Obituary

Joseph Lutz of South Pymatuning Twp. passed away peacefully at 6:55 a.m. Thursday, August 3, 2017, in his residence with his sons at his side. He was 84.

Mr. Lutz was born July 31, 1933, in Sharon, a son of Alexander and Magdalene Lutz.

A lifelong area resident, Joseph attended Sharon schools and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War Era.

Following his honorable discharge, Joseph began his 50 year career as a truck driver for Golden Dawn Foods, Hermitage. He later drove for Commercial Motor Freight, Youngstown; Flynn's Tire, Hermitage; and Estes Express Lines, Inc., West Middlesex. He ultimately retired in October of 2009.

Joseph was of the Russian Orthodox faith.

He was a member of VFW Post 6166, Hermitage; and was a 32nd degree Free and Accepted Mason, and a member of Lodge 517, Sharpsville.

Joseph enjoyed boating with his sons, riding his motorcycle, playing cards with friends and going to casinos.

He is survived by: his wife of 64 years, the former Theresa Grodecki, whom he married married May 2, 1953; three sons, Joseph R. Lutz and his wife Donna, Apopka, FL; Kenneth M. Lutz, Sharpsville; and David A. Lutz and his wife Corinne, Golden, Co; a sister, Bertha Pavlechko, Austintown, OH; a brother, Andy Lutz and his wife Billie Jo, Hermitage; six grandchildren, Christopher, Michelle, Scott, Nathan, Laynie and Erica; and four great grandchildren, Derek, Kylee, Monica and Owen.

Joseph was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Mary Voytko, Julia Kurpe and Anna Gladysz; and three brothers, John, Alex and Pete Lutz.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made on behalf of Joseph E. Lutz to the American Cancer Society, 320 Bilmar Dr., Pittsburgh, PA 15205.

In keeping with his wishes all services will be held privately.

Interment: St. Mary's Cemetery, Hermitage.
