Obituary

Joseph N. Kilbert, formerly of Myrtle Place, Sharon, passed away at 12:05 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 26, 2016, in Nugent Convalescent Home, Hermitage, after an extended illness. He was 80.

Mr. Kilbert was born Nov. 12, 1935, in Sharon, a son of George and Elsie Pennfield Kilbert. He was a graduate of Sharon High School and received his bachelors and masters degrees from Slippery Rock State University.

Mr. Kilbert was a seventh and eighth grade geography teacher at Grove City Jr. High School for 26 years and also worked at the family business, the former Kilbert Bros. Plumbing in Sharon.

Joe was a member of St. Joseph Church, Sharon.

He enjoyed playing cards, scrabble, going to garage sales and flea markets, playing volleyball, following local sports teams and attending games with his brother Bud, organizing the neighborhood block parties, collecting pennies and spending time with his grandchildren.

Surviving are: his wife, the former Jane Mason, whom he married July 13, 1957; four daughters, Marcia Sommerkamp and her husband Mike, Martinsburg, WV; Monica Brennan and her husband Ronald, Brookfield; Marilyn Lait and her husband Bill, Sharon; and Michelle Reynolds and her husband Andrew, Hagerstown, MD; a son, Michael J. Kilbert and his wife Teresa, Jamestown, PA; nine grandchildren, Gabriel Justin Noel, Patrick Brennan and his wife Kelli; Matthew Brennan and his wife Sarah; Marissa Miller and her husband Ryan; Stephanie and Connor Brennan; Samantha Lait; and Brienne and Donovan Kilbert; a great granddaughter, Niah Jane Brennan; a brother, Robert "Bud" Kilbert, Hermitage; and a sister-in-law, Lois Kilbert, Hermitage.

Mr. Kilbert was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, George and William Kilbert.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to your local school district to support educational programs. At the request of the deceased, there are no calling hours or service.

Entombment: St. Rose Cemetery Mausoleum, Hermitage.
