Joseph G. Chlpka, 83, of Transfer, passed away after an extended bout with dementia at 10:04 p.m. Sunday, March 22, 2026, in Embassy Nursing and Rehabilitation, Hermitage.

Mr. Chlpka was born on May 21, 1942, in Sharon, a son of the late John and Helen (Noga) Chlpka. He was a 1960 graduate of Hickory High School. In his younger years, Joe was a boat mechanic and had “Captain Jack’s Boat Yard” with his brothers in Sharpsville. He was employed by Yourga Trucking and Interstate Motor Freight as an over-the-road truck driver for over 20 years.

Joe enjoyed working on all things with a motor. In 1985, he opened his own business, Reynolds Service Center, to fix automobiles, marine and small engine repairs. He was in business for himself for over 27 years, until he had heart issues and retired in 2012.

Mr. Chlpka was a member of the Kiwanis Club in Transfer, the Transfer Harvest Home Fair Association, and was an active member of the Transfer Volunteer Fire Department for over 31 years.

Joe was a longtime member of Sts. Peter and Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, Sharon.

He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, riding anything with a motor. There were many weekend trips with his brothers and family in Marienville, PA, to hunt, fish and ride ATV’s, motorcycles and snowmobiles.

On February 10, 1973, he married his wife of 53 years, the former Beverly Haller, who survives at home.

Also surviving is a son, Michael Corcoran, and his significant other, Jenn, of Greenville, and a daughter, Tina Jozwiakowski and her husband, Keith, of Pittsburgh; three grandsons, Cody Corcoran (Becca), and Kolin and Konrad (Alena) Jozwiakowski; a great-granddaughter, Addilyn Jo Corcoran; three sisters-in-law, Sandra and Shirley Chlpka, both of Hermitage, and Barbara Mick and her husband, Carl, of Farrell; and many nieces and nephews, who will miss their crazy uncle Joe.

In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by his two brothers, John and Paul Chlpka, Sr.
