Joseph C. Cheplick, Hermitage, passed away at 2:55 p.m. on Monday (6-8-09) in Hospice House, Poland, Ohio. He was 81.
He was born on February 1, 1928 in McCullough, Pa. (Westmoreland County) the son of Walter and Emma Benic Cheplick, Sr.
Joe was a life member of Sacred Heart Church in Sharon.
He was raised on the West Side of Sharon and attended Hermitage Schools and immediately entered the United States Marine Corp in 1945. He was a decorated veteran of WWII in the Asiatic Pacific Theater and was honorably discharged in October of 1948. He reenlisted in 1950 and proudly served his country once again during the Korean War.
He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 7599, Transfer.
Joe's hobbies included both woodworking and fishing.
His wife the former Ann C. Fedorko whom he married on July 26, 1975 passed away on October 10, 2005.
He leaves his three sons, Dennis J. Cheplick, Greenville, Dr. Gregory P. Cheplick, Perrineville, NJ, and James M. Cheplick, Manhattan, NY; his two grandchildren, Timothy and Heather Cheplick. Also surviving is a sister, Mildred Bosela, Coitsville, OH; and a brother, John Cheplick, Hermitage.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Helen Pidle, and a brother Walter Cheplick.

Services: Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday (6-11-09) at 11:00 a.m. in Sacred Heart Church 40 S. Irvine Ave., Sharon, with Rev. Henry Andrae, pastor of the church as celebrant.
Interment: St. Mary's Cemetery, Hermitage.
