Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Monday for Joseph A. Caracci, Ridgelawn Dr., Hermitage, who passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at 1:08 a.m. Friday (8-7-15) in St. Joseph Hospital, Warren, Ohio. He was 86. He was born February 13, 1929 in Sharpsville, the son of Giuseppe and Giovanna Campagna Caracci. A lifelong area resident, he graduated from Sharpsville High School in 1947. He worked as a draftsman at the former Sharon Transformer Division of the Westinghouse Electric Corporation and later at Chicago Bridge & Iron, Greenville. He was a member and daily communicant at Church of Notre Dame, Hermitage. Mr. Caracci was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather who loved spending time with his family and tending to his home that he had built himself. When he was younger he loved to golf and hunt and recently he simply enjoyed watching the wildlife near his home. He served as a Naval Reservist for several years. His wife of 62 years, the former O. Kathleen Liburdi whom he married on November 21, 1953, survives at home. He is also survived by his two daughters, Kathy Jo. Taylor and her husband Bill, Sharpsville, Karen M. D'Onofrio and her husband Joe, Hermitage, three sons, Michael Caracci, Sharon, Mark F. Caracci, Hermitage, and Joe M. Caracci and his wife Julie, Lancaster, Pa., one sister, Rose DeAngelis, Sharpsville, 15 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Lena DeJulia, and a brother, Julius Caracci.
