Joseph T. Berg of New Castle, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, April 5, 2013 at 7:14 a.m. in Jameson Health Systems. He was 73. Joseph was born March 11, 1940, in South Pittsburgh, TN to Joseph A. and Frances L. Tidman Berg. He was a graduate of New Castle High School and went on to attend classes at Youngstown State University and Geneva College. Mr. Berg was a truck driver for many different companies. However he will be remembered as the owner and operator of Berg's Nursery and Berg's Limousine Company both in New Castle. Joseph was passionate about gardening and farming. Most importantly he treasured his time with family, especially his grandchildren. He is survived by his mother, Frances L. Berg of New Castle; 3 children, Melissa Merritt and her husband Gary, Joseph Berg and his wife Mikki, and Patricia Monaco and her husband Sam all of New Castle; 2 brothers, James R. Berg of Fort Myers, FL and John C. Berg of Poland, OH; 4 grandchildren, Joseph Berg, Jr., Annastasia Merritt, Jeffery Merritt, and Giada Monaco. Joseph is also survived by his companion Jolynn Kline of New Castle. Joseph was preceded in death by his father. Calling hours will be 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Monday, April 8, 2013, at the J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory Inc., 111 W. Falls St., New Castle. Funeral Services are private. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Butler, PA.
