Johnnie A. Matuz

Johnnie A. Matuz, 65, of New Castle, passed away Wednesday morning, April 22, 2026, surrounded by his loving family, in his residence.

Mr. Matuz was born July 5, 1960, in New Castle, a son of John David and Norma (Casciato) Matuz and was a 1979 graduate of Union High School.

Johnnie worked as a heavy equipment operator for S&S Processing, Inc., West Pittsburg, for 29 years.

In his spare time, Johnnie enjoyed fishing and golfing, but most of all, he cherished riding his Harley-Davidson and spending time in the woods hunting. His friends and family will remember him as a good man who would do anything for anyone.

On May 17, 1996, he married the former Linda Kerr, in the Independent Methodist Church, New Castle. She survives at home.

In addition to his wife, Johnnie is survived by his mother, Norma Matuz; son, Justin Matuz, KY; two stepchildren, Shannon Prestopine, and Jeremy Book (Cheri), both of New Castle; sister, Cindy Bartberger, Edinburg; five grandchildren, Cameron, Brendan, Amanda, Landyn, and Morgan; and two great-grandchildren, Violet and Dallas.

He was preceded in death by his father, John David Matuz.

In keeping with his wishes, there will be no services.
