John Yohman, 93, formerly of Transfer, PA, passed away Monday, January 4, 2021, in St. Paul's Senior Living Community, Greenville.
Mr. Yohman was born May 12, 1927, in Farrell, a son of the late Jack and Anna (Gresh) Yohman. He was a Farrell High School graduate and earned a bachelor of science degree in engineering from Pennsylvania State University, Main Campus.
John honorably served his country during WWII in the US Navy and earned the American Theatre, Asiatic Pacific and the Victory Medals.
He was employed as a civil engineer by Chicago Bridge and Iron, retiring in 1994.
John was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, Sharon.
He was a longtime resident of the Shenango Valley and built one of the first homes in Wynwood Acres. Due to work, he moved his family to Memphis, TN, in 1968 and returned to the area upon his retirement, building his last home in Transfer, in 1997.
He is survived by his wife, the former Emily J. Rombold, whom he married November 28, 1953; two daughters, Debbie Yohman, of Pittsburgh, and Susan Burks, of Crystal Lake, IL; a son, Robert Yohman, of Fredericksburg, VA; six grandchildren, Katie Yohman, Meghan Burks-Lenz, Alec Yohman, Spencer Burks, Julie and Laura Yohman.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by a brother, Harry Yohman.
A graveside service will be held at a later date.
Interment: America's Cemetery, Hermitage.
