John V. Yankus of Brunswick, Ohio passed away at 1:26 p.m. Monday, January 5, 2015, from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident the previous evening. He was 52. John was born June 27, 1962, in Cleveland, Ohio, a son of Peter W. and Martha Flack Yankus. He was a 1980 graduate of Cardinal Mooney High School, Youngstown, Ohio and received his bachelor's degree from the University of Akron. John was a sales representative for Pat O'Brien Chevrolet in Brunswick. An outdoorsman, he was an avid hunter and enjoyed fishing, skiing and riding motorcycles. Surviving are: his parents, Pete and Martha, Orlando, Florida; a sister, Marie Y. LaFrance and her husband Carl M., Concord Township (Lake County), Ohio; two nieces, Elaine Costanzo and her husband Frank; and Carleigh LaFrance; a nephew, Roger LaFrance; and three great nephews, Dominic, Johnny and Michael Costanzo. Calling hours will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday, January 8, 2015, in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 1090 E. State St., Sharon.
