John F. Thomas, 75, of Sharon passed away early Friday morning, August 9, 2024, in UPMC Jameson Hospital, New Castle.

Mr. Thomas was born January 5, 1949, in Sharon, a son of the late Fred and Alfreda (Moore) Thomas, and graduated from Brookfield High School in 1967.

John married his high school sweetheart, Roberta Vassen, on Sept. 30, 1967, and his wife of 57 years survives at home.

He worked as a millwright and machinist at various manufacturing facilities in the Shenango Valley.

John was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. A kind and friendly man, John had a lifelong affinity for animals and loved people. He also had a talent for fixing just about anything.

In addition to his wife, John is survived by a son, Eric Thomas, Sharon; a granddaughter, Katelynn Thomas, Cleveland, OH; and a daughter-in-law, Carol Thomas, Hubbard, OH.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by a son, Shawn Thomas; and three sisters, Doris Gallagher, Carol Wright, and Mary Peters.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Humane Society of Mercer Co., 2599 Broadway Rd., Hermitage, PA 16148.

In keeping with his wishes there will be no calling hours or funeral service.
