Obituary

John A. Sed, John XXIII Home for Senior Citizens, formerly of Hofius Lane, both Hermitage, passed away peacefully to join his wife and his Lord at 9:58 a.m. Tuesday (5-22-12) in the home of natural causes. He was 82.

Mr. Sed was born in Farrell on June 23, 1929 the son of Anthony and Mary Magayer Sed.

He was a 1947 graduate of Farrell High School and attended what is now Youngstown State University.

Mr. Sed had worked for 38 years as a marketing interpreter at the former Sharon Transformer division of the Westinghouse Electric Corporation and retired in 1985. Following his retirement from the Westinghouse, he worked for 8 years as a production manager for MCAR in Hermitage.

He was a charter member of the Church of Notre Dame, Hermitage.

Some of his memberships included the Loyal Order of Moose, Mercer, the American Legion Post 299, Sharon, the Italian Home, Farrell. Mr. Sed was active with both the Hickory Little League, and the Babe Ruth Baseball league in Hermitage where had been a coach, manager, and purchasing agent for the leagues.

A decorated veteran, he served with the United States Army during the Korean War and was assigned to the 525th Military Intelligence Group and he received his honorable discharge on March 12, 1953.

His wife the former Mary Anne DeBonis whom he married on October 29, 1951, passed away June20, 2010.

He leaves his daughter, Janice Bombeck and her husband James, Hermitage, two sons, David A. Sed and his wife Beverly, Rootstown, Oh,and Chad M. Sed, Chillicothe, Ohio; a brother Richard Sed and his wife Nancy, Hermitage, one sister Theresa Wangler, Bingham Farms MI, six grandchildren, Joshua and Cara Sed, Sarah and Sasha Sed, and Alyse and Elija Bombeck, and his two great granddaughters, Tamia Mills, and Valencia Roberts.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by five sisters, Mildred, Nellie, and Elizabeth Sed; Sarah Yelius, and Della Bugher, and two brothers, Thomas Richard Sed, and an infant brother Sadek Sed.

Calling hours: 11:00 a.m. until the time of service Tuesday (5-29-12) in Church of Notre Dame, 2325 Highland Road, Hermitage, and immediately following the services in Notre Dame School where a memorial luncheon will be held.

Services: A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday (5-29-12) at 12:00 p.m. in the Church of Notre Dame, Hermitage, with Rev. Edward J. Zeitler, senior associate as the celebrant. Full military honors rendered by West Middlesex VFW Post 6233 and Wheatland American Legion Post 432 Honor Guard immediately following the mass.
