John Safin, Jr., 88, of Hermitage, passed away Monday morning, December 2, 2024, in UPMC Jameson Hospital, New Castle, PA.
Mr. Safin was born on February 10, 1936, in Manhattan, NY, a son of the late John and Victoria (Light) Safin, Sr. He attended Sharon School District and honorably served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps.
A proud steelworker, John was employed for more than 43 years, at the former Sawhill Tubular, Sharon.
John was a member of St. John's Orthodox Church, Hermitage.
He married his wife of 69 years, the former Elizabeth Ustik, on August 6, 1955. They enjoyed spending winters in Largo, FL, several cruises, going to casinos and taking trips to Las Vegas.
An avid football fan, John had a passion for the Pittsburgh Steelers.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Safin; a daughter, Lisa Dias and her husband David, Brookfield, OH; a granddaughter, Danielle Chambers and her husband Steven, Hubbard, OH; and his great-grandpuppy, Jack, whom he adored.
The family suggests memorial contributions be directed to St. John's Orthodox Church, 3180 Morefield Rd., Hermitage, PA 16148.
Calling hour will be 11 a.m. until noon, Thursday (12/05/2024) in St. John's Orthodox Church, Hermitage. Online condolences may be sent to the family at

Funeral service will immediately follow at noon, in the church, with Rev. David Mastroberte, pastor, officiating. Military honors will be rendered by the Wheatland and Farrell Honor Guard.
Interment: St. John's Orthodox Cemetery, Hermitage.
