Obituary

John Rumelfanger, Jr., 83, of Hermitage passed away at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, August 19, 2018, in Sharon Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Rumelfanger was born June 3, 1935, in Alt Sivaz, Yugoslavia, a son of John Rumelfanger, Sr. and Katarina (Laforsch) Rumelfanger. His family moved to Germany in 1944 before immigrating to the United States of America in 1951. He attended Brookfield (Ohio) Schools.

John enlisted in the US Army in 1958 and served for two years in Germany with the 3rdArmored Division as an interpreter.

Following his discharge, John married the former Agnes Richter on October 15, 1960.

John retired in 1997 after 33 years on the conduit line and as a metalizer at Sawhill Tubular Products which later became Armco Corp. Previously he was employed for eleven years at the former J.M. Willson and Son's furniture both in Sharon.

John was an active member of St. Anthony of Padua Church, Sharon, where he assisted with the fish fry, parish picnic, counting offerings and working at the Buhl Day booth. He was also a member of the Apollo Maennerchor Club, Sharon.

He was always ready to help others and could fix most anything. John enjoyed fishing, vegetable gardening and woodworking, having made several keepsakes for his children and grandchildren.

He leaves behind his wife of 57 years; a daughter, Nancy Pristas and her husband John, Cranberry Twp.; two sons, Robert Rumelfanger and his wife Joni, Cannonsburg, PA; and Richard Rumelfanger and his wife Mary, Hermitage; and six grandchildren, Matthew, Amanda and Alyssa Pristas; and Jacob, Magdalena and John Rumelfanger.

John was preceded in death by his parents.

The family suggest memorial contributions be made to St. Anthony of Padua Church, 804 Idaho St., Sharon, PA 16146.

Calling hours will be 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday (08/22/2018) in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 1090 East State St., Sharon.

Mass of Christian burial will be 11 a.m. Thursday (08/23/2018) in St. Anthony's Church, with Rev. Matthew Ruyechan, pastor, as celebrant.

Interment: Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Hermitage.
