John B. Myers, Jr. of Hermitage passed away at 11:44 p.m. Tuesday, October 25, 2016, in Overlook Nursing Home, New Wilmington, after an extended illness. He was 63.
Mr. Myers was born May 12, 1953, in Sharon, a son of John B. Myers, Sr. and Alice T. (Farringer) Myers.
He was a lifelong area resident and attended Sharon High School.
John, who many knew as "Horse," owned and operated Myers Towing in Masury, which he established in 1980. Cars were a very large part of his life, particularly fast cars. He was a fan of NASCAR and Dale Earnhardt, Jr., muscle cars, sprint car racing on dirt tracks and loved taking his 1969 Chevy Chevelle SS to car cruises.
John also enjoyed making spaghetti sauce, cooking on the spit over an open fire and eating. He was well known throughout the valley, especially at eating establishments.
His German shepherd dogs were also a big part of his life and traveled with him often.
Surviving are: his wife at home, the former Karen L. Davidson, whom he married May 19, 1990; a son, Shane M. Myers, Sharon; his mother, Alice "Nan" Myers, Sharon; a sister, Denise Hunt and her husband Lonnie, Masury, and their daughter Jessica Gregg and her husband Todd; two brothers, David Myers and his wife Patricia, Greenville, and their son Davey Myers, Jr.; and Joseph Myers, Sharon, and his daughter Kimberly Myers; and a great niece, Melanie Greggs.
John was preceded in death by his father, John B. Myers, Sr.; and a nephew, Jason Myers.
Calling hours and a celebration of John's life will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday, October 29, 2016, in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 1090 E. State St., Sharon.
