John "Jack" Montgomery, Lamor Road, Hermitage, passed away of natural causes at 6:05 a.m. Friday (8-28-15) in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System following a brief illness. He was 84. Jack was born May 7, 1931 in Sharpsville, Pa., the son of John and Margaret McDonald Montgomery. He graduated from Sharpsville High School and attended what is now Youngstown State University. He retired from the former Sharon Transformer Division of the Westinghouse Electric Corporation where he worked in several capacities for the shipping department. In retirement Jack loved his job as a school bus driver for Watson's Inc. He was a huge fan of high school sports and was a familiar face at many athletic events throughout the valley. He was a decorated veteran of the Korean War having served aboard the US St. Paul while in the Navy. A devout Christian, he was a long time member of East Side Church (Baptist-Disciples of Christ) Sharon. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather who loved spending time with his family. He also loved a ride in his car, camping, and his past trips to Myrtle Beach, SC. He married the former Dian J. Sheasley May 9, 1961, she passed away on April 23, of this year. Jack leaves his daughter, Karen L. Gill, West Middlesex, Pa., a son David A. Montgomery and his wife Deborah, Hermitage, five grandchildren, Heidi Weyant, Brittany Gill, Tyler and Evan Montgomery, and Lindsey Nestor; two great grandchildren, Payten Weyant Mills, and Ariaunna Weyant Mills. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his memory to his church, East Side Church (Baptist-Disciples of Christ) 201 Spruce Ave, Sharon, PA 16146 Calling hours: Private.
