John G Manski, Jr. of Grayslake, Illinois (formerly of Hermitage and Pittsburgh) passed away peacefully on Friday January 8, 2010 at 8:10 PM with his three sons by his side. He was 79.
He was born on June 8, 1930 in Pittsburgh, PA to John and Margaret Fisher Manski.
A decorated veteran, he served with the United States Air Force during the Korean War.
Mr. Manski worked as an Air Traffic Controller at the Youngstown Municipal Airport.
Mr. Manski enjoyed all sports. He was an All City baseball star in the Pittsburgh City League for Langley High School. He coached Little League baseball at the Patagonia Little League from the late 60's through the 80's. He was an avid Steeler fan and season ticket holder for many years.
His wife, the former Marian Whitehead of Brookfield, Ohio, whom he married August 29, 1953, died November 9, 1982.
He is survived by: three sons and two daughters-in-law, John W. Manski and his wife Sharon of Scotts, Michigan, David K Manski of Reno, Nevada, and Richard P Manski and his wife Jennifer of Libertyville, Illinois; and eight grand children, John C, Joseph, Scott, Sarah, Benjamin, Morgan, Brett, and Erin Manski.
Besides his wife, Mr. Manski was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Harry and Robert Fisher, and one sister Margaret Fisher Brown.

Services: Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Thursday (1-14-10) at 10:00 a.m. in Sacred Heart Church with Rev. Henry C. Andrae, pastor of the church as celebrant.
Interment: St. Mary's Cemetery, Hermitage.
