John W. Lowry, 74, of Pymatuning Twp., passed away at 5:34 p.m. Saturday, July 7, 2018, in UPMC Horizon, Greenville.

Mr. Lowry was born August 24, 1943, in Cleveland, OH, a son of Walter and Ethel (Snyder) Lowry. He was a 1961 graduate of Sharon High School. John served with the US Air force for eight years during the Vietnam War, stationed in England. Following his honorable discharge, he continued his education at DeVry University, Chicago and graduated with his associate's degree in electronic communications from Penn State Shenango.

John was the owner of Lowry Mobile Communications for 35 years. Prior to running his own business, he was employed for 20 years as a radio technician for the Bessemer and Lake Erie Railroad.

John was on the school board at Reynolds School District for 21 years, and served as its president for 20 years.

Surviving is his wife, the former Shirley Hazell, whom he married on August 29, 1964; two daughters, Debra Lowry and her husband Robert Howard, McKeesport, PA; and Heather Wilkins, Alexandria, VA; three grandchildren, Samantha Atchison, Matthew Doucette and Jonathan Tyler Lowry; two great grandchildren, Gabriel Atchison and Valkyrie Doucette; and his dog, Willy.

John was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Christian Lowry; and a brother, Theodore Lowry.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Reynolds Canine Program, 531 Reynolds Dr., Greenville, PA 16125.

John continued to give back by being an organ donor.
