Obituary

John B. Leali, 89, of Hermitage, passed away Wednesday, December 16, 2020, in his home, with his family by his side.

Mr. Leali was born April 14, 1931, in Sharon, a son of the late Joseph and Maria Leali and attended Sharon High School.

He served in the US Army during the Korean War, from 1952 to 1954, where he was a tank driver and stationed in Germany.

Following his honorable discharge, he and two brothers founded Leali Bros. Meats, Wheatland. Later they expanded and started Castle Brand Inc., Amish Farm Brand Meats, New Castle. Upon his retirement as a butcher and the sale of his business, he became the president of Leali and Leali Oil, Inc., Hermitage.

John was a member and served on the board of trustees of the former Farrell Christian Assembly Church, which later moved and became First Assembly of God, Hermitage.

He was also a Free and Accepted Mason, Shenango Valley Lodge 810, Hermitage, and served on the Hickory Twp. Commissioners as president as well as vice president.

As a butcher, John thought highly of 4-H programs and was a longtime supporter of many local 4-H programs.

He was a dedicated family man, who worked tirelessly to provide for his family. In his free time, John enjoyed going to camp and hunting with his brothers and family.

He is survived by his wife, the former Ladonna Maury, whom he married September 13, 1958; a daughter, Melissa Robin Colbert and her husband Steven, of Hermitage; a son, John David Leali, of Sharon; three grandchildren which he and his wife raised, Lana DiPofi, Robert Alan Heasley, Jr., who was his "partner and caretaker," and Andrew Joseph Heasley; four other grandchildren, Brianna, Billy and Cameron Colbert; and Courtney Walter; and eight great grandchildren. Also surviving are four sisters, Josephine Germano, of Hermitage, Edith Schley, of Denver, CO, Lydia Foti, of Syracuse, NY, and Eva Perich, of Sharon; and a brother, Robert Leali, of Hermitage.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by a daughter, Lori Colleen Heasley; a grandson, Joshua David Leali; and four brothers, Daniel, Paul, James and David Leali in infancy.

Calling hours will be 10 a.m. until the time of the service Saturday, December 19, 2020, in First Assembly of God, 1455 N. Keel Ridge Rd., Hermitage.
