John A. Kosiorek, Hermitage, passed away Wednesday ( 3-23-16 ) at 8:20 a.m. , in the Overlook Nursing Home, New Wilmington. He was 88.
Mr. Kosiorek was born September 11, 1927, in Farrell, the son of Helen Thomas.
John served in the United States Army as a Sergeant in both World War II and the Korean Conflict, for which he received the Purple Heart award and three bronze stars.
He worked as a pipefitter at the former Westinghouse Electric Corp in Sharon until his retirement.
He was a member of St. Joseph's Church, Sharon.
John was a member at the American Legion Post #299, Sharon. He enjoyed playing golf, checkers, and cards.
On August 2, 1952, he married the former Eleanor Dmochowski, survives at home.
Also surviving are; one daughter, Marlene Porterfield and her husband Russell, Sharon; one son, Bruce Kosiorek, Streetsboro, OH; four sisters; one brother; and two grandchildren, Russell Porterfield Jr. and his wife Elizabeth, New Brighton, PA; and Veronica Porterfield, Palmyra, VA.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother.
