John Kineston, 75, of Fredonia, passed away Sunday morning, May 28, 2023, in UPMC Horizon, Greenville.

Mr. Kineston was born May 1, 1948, in French Creek, PA, a son of the late William and Twila (Swogger) Kineston and he graduated from Grove City Area High School.  After high school, John enlisted in the Army and served in the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged.

He was a longtime employee of PennDot Mercer, where he retired in 2005 as a truck driver. John was a member of the Shenango Valley VFW, Post 1338, Sharon.

An outdoorsman, John enjoyed hunting and spending time at the family camp in Cook Forest. He was also a car enthusiast and liked to admire classic cars at car cruise-ins. Additionally, he looked forward to attending Nascar races at Michigan International Speedway, and drag races at Summit Motorsports Park, Norwalk, OH. He also enjoyed attending local fairs and carnivals, but above all, he cherished time spent with family.

John is survived by his two sons, John and Brian Kineston, both of Fredonia; and a brother, David Kineston, New Castle, PA; and many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, James and William Kineston; and his former wife, Patricia Kineston; and a nephew, David Kineston.

The family requests memorial contributions be directed to Disabled American Veterans (DAV), Mercer County Chapter #55, PO Box 564 Sharon, PA 16146.

Calling hours will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, June 6, 2023, in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 1090 E. State St. Sharon.

Full military honors will be rendered by Sharon Honor Guard at 6 p.m.

Interment: Oakwood Cemetery, Sharon.
