John J. List

John J. List, 75, of Masury, OH, passed away early Sunday afternoon, May 10, 2026, in the emergency room of Sharon Regional Medical Center.

Mr. List was born December 31, 1950, in Pittsburgh, PA, a son of William and Theresa (Panza) List. Following high school, John enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps in 1968 and honorably served for three years during the Vietnam Era.

As a young man, John worked at Sharon Regional Hospital. For more than 25 years, he worked as a millwright at Wheatland Tube, retiring in 2016. He was also a member of Laborers’ Local 964, New Castle.

An avid Pittsburgh sports fan, he especially loved the Steelers and Pirates. He also enjoyed bowling and participated in several leagues. During retirement, his greatest joy was being a “Papa” to his beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

His wife of 55 years, Loretta P. (Garvey) List, whom he married on April 14, 1971, survives at home.

John is also survived by his daughter, Amy Hiner (Mark), of Masury, OH; four grandchildren, Brittany Johnson (Jordan), Mark Hiner, Jr., Jonathan Hiner (Becca), and Brady Hiner; and three great-grandchildren, Jordan, Jr., Carter, and Lola Johnson.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Saturday (5-16-26) in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 1090 E. State St., Sharon. 

Full military honors will be rendered immediately following at 12:30 p.m. by the Wheatland A.L. and West Middlesex V.F.W. Honor Guard.
