Obituary

John C. Evans, III of 858 Wheatland Rd., West Middlesex, PA passed away at 8:07 p.m. Monday (6-13-11) at his residence after a courageous battle with cancer. He was 46.

Mr. Evans was born January 22, 1965 in Sharon a son of the late John C. Evans, Jr. and Rita E. Root Evans.

He was a lifelong area resident and attended West Middlesex High School.

John was a skilled auto mechanic by trade and was last employed by Gassner Brothers Automotive, Hermitage. He previously worked at Monro Muffler, Hermitage, and Preston America, West Middlesex.

John was a car enthusiast and owned and maintained a 1947 Ford coupe. He loved displaying his car at the annual Fathers Day Car Show and attending the weekly cruise-in with his children at the Tic Toc Convenience Store in Hermitage. A NASCAR fan his favorite driver was Dale Earnhardt, Jr. John also enjoyed darts, billiards and going to Tionesta with his family where he would deer hunt and spend time outdoors. He was a member of the West Middlesex VFW.

Surviving are: a daughter, Rita Nicole Evans, an 11th grade student at West Middlesex High School; and a son, John C. Evans, IV an 8th grade student at West Middlesex Jr. High School, both at home. He also leaves two sisters, Brenda McKinney, Hermitage; and Paula Dudzenski and her husband Richard, West Middlesex; two brothers, David Richards, Sharon; and Russ Richards, Wheatland; aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews; and his pet dog, Molly.

Besides his parents, John was preceded in death by two nieces, Cindy and Jennifer Richards.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Jameson Hospice of Lawrence County, 1211 Wilmington Rd., New Castle, PA 16105; or to the Angel Fund at the Cancer Care Center, 2320 Highland Rd., Hermitage, PA 16148.

Calling hours will be from 3:00 - 5:30 p.m. Thursday (6-16-11) in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 1090 E. State St., Sharon.
