John Duich, Sharon, formerly of Hermitage, passed away at 8:30 Saturday (10-8-11) in the Clepper's Convalescent Home following an extended illness. He was 82.
John was born January 15, 1929 in the former Yugoslavia the son of Paul and Manda Duich.
He immigrated to the United States with his parents in 1934 and together they setteld in Farrell, Pennsylvania.
He graduated from Farrell High School in 1947.
John was employed by the former Sharon Transformer division of the Westinghouse Electric Corporation where he worked as an electrician and belonged to the International Union of Electrical Workers.
As an alumnus of Farrell High School, he enjoyed attending both basketball and football games over the years. In his younger years, John enjoyed deer hunting.
He is survived by several close friends, cousins, and several nieces and nephews living in Europe.
John was preceded in death by his parents, and his siblings in Europe.
Memorial contributions may be made in John's memory to the charity of the donor's choice.
Calling hours: Mr. Duich will lie in state on Monday (10-17-11) from 11:00 until 11:30 a.m. in Buhl Memorial Chapel, Oakwood Cemetery.
Services: In keeping with his wishes, there will be no funeral service.
Interment: Oakwood Cemetery, Hermitage. Final arrangements are under the direction of the J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory Inc. 1090 E. State St., Sharon.
