John E. Doughton of Sharpsville passed away unexpectedly of natural causes Wednesday (1-4-17) in his residence following an extended illness. He was 53.
Mr. Doughton was born February 20, 1963, in Greenville, a son of Thomas and Virginia Prussey Doughton.
He was raised in Greenville and graduated from Reynolds High School in 1981.
Following high school, John attended Penn State University where he earned an associate's degree in Wildlife Technology.
He was employed by the State Correctional Institute, Mercer, where he worked as a correctional food service supervisor, retiring in 2016.
An outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting and fishing. John also enjoyed cooking and listening to music, particularly hard rock.
Surviving are: his wife, the former Annette DeJulia, whom he married April 30, 2004; his mother, Virginia Perrotti, Fredonia; his step-mother, Peggy Doughton, Greenville; two sisters, Marjorie Wilson, Prospect, PA; and Carol Doughton, South Ogden, UT; and a brother, Dan Doughton and his wife Darlene, Elkton, VA. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
John was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Doughton; and brother, Tim Doughton.

Calling hours will be noon until the time of service Sunday (1-8-17) in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 1090 E. State St., Sharon.
Funeral service will be 2 pm Sunday (1-8-17) in the funeral home, with Rev. Joseph C. Campbell, pastor of St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, Sharon, officiating.
