John Robert Dalton of New Middletown, Ohio, passed away under hospice care at 9 p.m. Wednesday, December 14, 2016. He was 74.
Mr. Dalton was born December 26, 1941, in Youngstown, Ohio, a son of Ralph and Jane Elizabeth (McDonald) Dalton. He was a 1960 graduate of South High School, Youngstown, and served with the U.S. Air Force from 1961 to 1965.
John was employed in skilled trade as a welder maintenance (weemer) for General Motor's Lordstown Facility for 40 years and retired in 2008 from its metal fabrication plant. He previously worked at McKay Machine in Youngstown and was a member of the UAW Local 1714.
John was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Church, New Middletown.
He enjoyed his retirement by maintaining his property, cutting grass, traveling and watching old movies.
John was very content staying at home and spending time with his family, who will miss him dearly.
Surviving are: his loving wife, the former Frances E. Drewek, whom he married July 6, 1963 in St's. Cyril and Methodius Church, Youngstown; three daughters, Christine D. Dias and her husband Rick, Ravenna, Ohio; Donna M. Ohlin and her husband David, New Middletown; and Karen L. Bartholomy and her husband Thomas, also Ravenna; and six grandchildren, Taylor and Sidney Dias; David, Ryan and Evan Ohlin; and Mason Bartholomy. He also leaves a sister, Janet McHenry, Austintown, Ohio; a sister-in-law, Jeanette Dalton, Ft. Collins, CO; and several nieces and nephews.
John was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Ray and Howard Dalton; and a sister, Joyce Cerimele.

Calling hours will be from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Monday, December 19, 2016, in St. Paul the Apostle Church, New Middletown, Ohio.
Funeral Mass will be 11 a.m. Monday, in the church, with Rev. Larry Frient, pastor, as celebrant.
