He was born September 12, 1944 in Sharon, a son of Thomas and Mary Crisan. A 1963 graduate of Hickory High School, where John excelled in sports. He was a true businessman, having a long career in retail. Working for JCPenney, John's charming personality and genuine helping nature took him to many cities throughout the Tri-State area.

John was most passionate about his family. In September of 2000, John married the love of his life, his number one lady, Ida Campbell. They enjoyed sharing many laughs, reminiscing about past experiences and sharing an unimaginable amount of love for each other. John loved being Papa to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, most especially his #1 buddy, and only boy descendent, Ashton Patton. He had a big heart and enjoyed giving out compliments. He was very fond of the staff at Juniper Village and St. John XXIII. He encouraged the staff to put a tailpipe on his wheelchair so he could go to his favorite restaurants, Olive Garden and Bob Evans. This earned him the nickname "Trouble."
