John "Jack" N. Chervinko of Hermitage, formerly of Sharon, passed away at 12:45 a.m. Wednesday, August 5, 2015, in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System. He was 83. Mr. Chervinko was born December 20, 1931 in Farrell, a son of George and Anna Seech Chervinko. He was a 1949 graduate of Sharon High School and worked briefly at Sharon Steel's former Farrell plant immediately afterwards. Jack was a career military man with the U.S. Army having served ten years in Germany and later with the Army Reserves for nine years as a Traffic Management Coordinator at Ft. Riley, Kansas. He retired August 31, 1980 and moved back to the area. Jack enjoyed woodworking during his retirement. Surviving are: his wife, the former Victoria Elizabeth Light, whom he married August 27, 1955, at the residence; a brother, Robert G. Chervinko and his wife Mary, Sharon; and two nieces, Frances Chervinko, Sharon; and Nancy Reed and her husband David, Columbus, Ohio. Jack was preceded in death by his parents and a niece, Patricia Chervinko. Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Friday, August 7, 2015, in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 1090 E. State St., Sharon. Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Saturday, August 8, 2015, in the funeral home. Interment: America's Cemetery, Hermitage, with military honors rendered by the West Middlesex VFW, Wheatland American Legion and Farrell VFW Honor Guard.
