John Paul Cannon of Hermitage, formerly of Erie, PA, passed away as a result of a tractor trailer accident in Pursell, OK, on Wednesday, December 14, 2016. He was 49.
Mr. Cannon was born November 29, 1967, in Long Beach, CA, a son of Byron Cannon and Mary Frances (Kerstein) Cannon.
He was a 1985 graduate of Mercyhurst Preparatory School. John was employed by Prime Trucking and has drove tractor trailer for over 20 years.
John is of the Catholic faith. He is a member of the Sons of the Confederate Veterans, and a former member of the Erie Thunderbirds, drum and bugle corps.
John was a generous man, he donated his time whenever he could. He cherished his time at home when he was not driving over the road. John was also very interested in politics and went out of his way to help campaign for the Republican Party.
Surviving are: his wife, whom he shared 14 wonderful years, the former Barbara Holmes; his daughter, Caitlin Cannon, Sharpsville; step daughter, Courtney Weimerskir, Sharon; a step son, Brandon Weimerskir and his wife Shannon, Pittsburgh; two sisters, Susan Packard, Nebraska; and Denise Cannon, Sharon; and a granddaughter, Kennedy Cannon, Sharpsville.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Calling hours will be from 4 p.m. until the time of the service Tuesday, December 27, 2016, in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 1090 East State St., Sharon.
A memorial service will be at 6 p.m. on Tuesday in the funeral home, led by, Susan Packard.
