Obituary

John J. Buchko of Hermitage passed away at 6:50 a.m. on Sunday, May 29, 2016, in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System. He was 74.

Mr. Buchko was born on June 23, 1941, in McKeesport, the son of the late John A. and Irene Szabo Buchko.
John was a graduate of Duquesne High School. Following high school, John matriculated to Edinboro University.

Mr. Buchko was stationed in Germany while proudly serving his country in the Army during the Korean Conflict.
He retired in 1990 as the bar manager for the Iroquois Boating and Fishing Club in Conneaut Lake.

John was a member of Notre Dame Church, Hermitage.

Mr. Buchko was an avid gardener. He especially had a green thumb for heirloom tomatoes, and they were appreciated by friends far and wide.

John was an avid reader, loved to fish and was an excellent cook. He was always willing to offer a helping hand to those in need. Most importantly he was a loving husband and father and cherished the times he spent with his family and friends.

John is survived by: his wife, Diane Werle Buchko, whom he married Dec. 21, 1969; a daughter, Jennifer Buchko of Pittsburgh; and a sister, Jeannie Buchko of White Oak, Pa.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

The family requests that memorial contributions be made to a charity of the donor's choice.


Calling hours: 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday (6-2-16) in Notre Dame Church, 2325 Highland Road, Hermitage.

Funeral: Memorial mass at 1 p.m. Thursday (6-2-16) in the church with the Rev. Jeffery J. Noble.
