Obituary
John "Jack" Whitten Broadbent of Hermitage passed away peacefully at
10:15 a.m.
Wednesday
(8-17-16) in his home, after an extended illness.
He was 83.
Mr. Broadbent was born September 8, 1932, in New Castle, PA, a son of James H. and Helen (Shaughnessy) Broadbent.
He served with the U.S. Army during the Korean War and moved to Hermitage in 1963.
Jack retired from Sharon Steel's former Farrell plant as an engineer.
He was a member of the Church of Notre Dame, Hermitage.
Jack enjoyed golfing, watching sports and painting with water colors.
He was a member of the Hickory VFW, Post 6166, Hermitage; and the American Legion, Post 162, Sharpsville.
Surviving are: his wife of nearly 60 years, the former Dorothy Fundoots, at home; three daughters, Karen Zoccole and her husband Brian, Sharpsville; Jacqueline Terrill and her husband Neil, West Pittsburgh., PA; and Emily Broadbent, Warren, PA; a son, John Broadbent, Sharon; five grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; a sister, Marilyn Confer and her husband Richard, New Castle, PA; and a brother, Leroy Broadbent and his wife JoAnn, Key West, FL.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Cheryl Broadbent; a son, Gregory Broadbent; and a grandson, Peter Carpec, III.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Church of Notre Dame, 2325 Highland Rd., Hermitage, PA 16148; or to Mental Health of Mercer County, 327 Stambaugh Ave., Sharon, PA 16146.
In keeping with Jack's wishes, calling hours and service are private.
Entombment: St. Rose Cemetery Mausoleum, Hermitage.
