Mr. Brannon was born July 30, 1926, in Franklin, PA, a son of Walter and Edith DeLong Brannon. He was a 1944 graduate of Franklin High School, and following graduation enlisted in the U.S. Army.
Jack served in the Pacific Theatre during WWII as part of the Army Air Corps 9 th Bombardment Group. He was honorably discharged as a corporal with the following designations: Good Conduct Medal; WWII Victory Medal; and the Asiatic Pacific Theatre Ribbon.
Following his discharge, Jack enrolled in Clarion State College where he earned a Bachelors of Science in Education. He then matriculated to Westminster College where he graduated with a Master of Science in Education, and later enrolled in Western Reserve University, Cleveland, OH, where he completed his Doctoral course work.
He began his career teaching at Cochranton (Pa) Area High School. Jack worked as a guidance counselor and assistant principal at Wattsburg (Pa) Area High School for nine years, and in a similar capacity at Strasburg-Franklin (Pa)High School for two years. He then became principal of Riverside Jr./Sr. High School, and later served as the superintendent of Beaver Schools. Jack ultimately retired as superintendent of Reynolds School District at the age of 53.
He enjoyed his years as the drummer in the former Les James band, and would play at Yankee Lake as well as travel to other local venues.
His wife, the former Gladys E. Ester, passed away April 14, 2010.
He is survived by a son with whom he made his home, C. John Brannon, II and his wife Lisa, Sharpsville.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents.
In keeping with his wishes there will be no services.
