March 21, 1940 – February 6, 2016
John Borko, Hermitage, passed away peacefully of natural causes at 11:30 p.m. Saturday (2-6-16) in UPMC Horizon Hospital, Farrell, following an extended illness. He was 75.
John was born March 21, 1940 in Sharon one of two sons born to John and Elizabeth Chakan Borko.
A lifelong area resident, he graduated from Hickory High School in 1958.
In years past John owned and operated a professional carpet and rug cleaning service serving the Shenango Valley. He also worked in production for Daffins Candies in their Farrell chocolate factory.
He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Girard, Ohio.
John enjoyed cooking and tending to his garden.
His wife Jonine "Neaner" Borko whom he married October 20, 1990 passed away November 2, 2015.
He is survived by his two daughters, Chris Plummer and her husband Barry, Farrell, and Beth Schupp and her husband Ron, Mercer, a son, Brad Borko and his fiance Heather Muntean, Farrell, seven grandchildren, Jacob, Genevieve, Kaitlyn, Adrienne, Nathan, Sarah and Lauren, a brother, Robert "Bob" Borko and his wife Sandy, Hermitage and their two daughters, and his former wife Connie McGinnis, Sharon.
In addition to his wife, he was also preceded in death by his parents and his step father John Matanin, and an infant grandson, Isaac Schupp.
Calling hours: 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. Wednesday (2-10-15) in the J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory Inc. 1090 E. State St. Sharon.
Services: 2:00 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home with Bishop Raymond Palmer, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, officiating.
Interment: Morefield Cemetery, Hermitage.
