Obituary

John A. 'Jack' Wilson, 404 N. Oakland Ave., Sharon; formerly of Tanglewood Dr., Hermitage, passed away peacefully at 9:35 p.m. Tuesday (7-13-10) in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System after a brief illness. He was 79.

Mr. Wilson was born May 7, 1931 in Sharon a son of the late Allen and Mary Doss Wilson.

A lifelong area resident, he was a 1949 graduate of Sharon High School and attended Grove City (PA) College.

Mr. Wilson began his career as the branch manager in the Sharon office of the former Pittsburgh Gage and Supply Co. He later owned and operated the former Fischler Plumbing and Supply Co. in New Castle and the former Sheffield Manufacturing Co. in Ashtabula, Ohio.

Jack was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church, Sharon. He was also a lifetime member of the Benevolent Protective Order of the Elks, Lodge # 103, Sharon, where he served as a trustee; a member and past president of the former Sharon Country Club; and a former member of the Sharon Social Fishing Club on Lake Muskoka in Ontario, Canada. He was a Free and Accepted Mason for 49 years and a member of Lodge # 810, Hermitage.

His wife, the former Patricia Ann Morgenstern, whom he married November 27, 1953, passed away December 11, 1981.

Surviving are: a special friend and companion, Norma Millison, Sharon; two daughters, Susan D. Sullivan and her husband Mark, Erie, PA; and Carol Ann Moretti and her companion Jay Laskey, Hermitage; a son, John A. Wilson, Jr., M.D. and his wife Marian, Winston-Salem, NC; six grandchildren, 1st Lieutenant Andrew Sullivan, El Paso, Texas; Kyle Sullivan, Erie; Jake and Megan Wilson, Winston-Salem; Christopher Moretti and his wife Ionica Mija, Youngstown, Ohio; and Jessica Moretti, Indiana, PA; a step-granddaughter, Nataly Laskey, Hermitage; a sister, Dottie Bonta and her husband Nick, Hermitage; two nieces, Linda Comninos and her husband John; and Cindy Nicoloff and her husband David, all Hermitage; and several great nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents and wife, Jack was preceded in death by a grandson, Steven Moretti.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Stephen Comninos Foundation, c/o The Shenango Valley Foundation, 33 Chestnut St., Sharon, PA 16146; or to the American Cancer Society.

Calling hours will be from 4-8 p.m. today, Thursday (7-15-10) in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 1090 E. State St., Sharon.
