Obituary
Joanne Louise Lloyd of Hermitage passed away at
3:20 a.m.
Sunday, March 27, 2016, in her sons residence, Youngstown, Ohio.
She was 66.
Mrs. Lloyd was born November 30, 1949, in New Castle, a daughter of John "Jack" Mackey Long and Jane Louise Finkbeiner Long.
A lifelong Hermitage resident, she was a 1967 graduate of Hickory High School and earned her bachelor's degree from Clarion University in 1971.
Joanne retired as a secretary in July of 2015 from the Farrell Area School District where she was a dedicated employee for 27 years. During her tenure at Farrell High, she was very involved with the planetarium and the alumni association and was the director for many of the high school's plays.
She was active with the arts and theatre and performed in and directed many local theatre productions.
Joanne was a former active member of Wheatland-Farrell United Methodist Church where she sang in its choir and was a Summer Bible School instructor.
Having a thirst for learning, she was an avid reader, particularly in regards to the Civil War, and liked researching genealogy.
She enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening and loved crocheting. Joanne was also a jigsaw puzzle enthusiast and competed in many events at Ohio University in Athens, Ohio.
Her husband, Edward Cunard Lloyd, whom she married December 31, 1973, passed away February 8, 2006.
Surviving are: a daughter, Martha Lloyd Kerr and her husband Keith, Penn Hills section of Pittsburgh; a son, Morgan Lloyd and his fiancé Jen Gonda, Youngstown; a sister, Linda Cady, Sharon; a brother, James Long and his wife Rosemary, Mercer; a brother-in-law, Rick Gottuso, Liberty Twp., Ohio; and several nieces, nephews and friends.
Besides her husband, Joanne was preceded in death by her parents. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Hospice of the Valley, 5190 Market St., Youngstown, Ohio 44512.
Calling hours will be from 2 p.m. until the time of service on Thursday, March 31, 2016 , in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 1090 E. State St., Sharon.
Memorial service will be 4 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home with Roger Hanna, chaplain of CMA, officiating.
Interment: Haywood Cemetery, West Middlesex.
