Joanne Elizabeth Daverio, 92, of Hermitage, passed away Sunday afternoon, August 11, 2024, in St. John XXIII Home.
Mrs. Daverio was born on August 3, 1932, in Farrell, one of six daughters of the late Andrew and Elizabeth (Hreha) Flack. She attended the former St. Ann's Parochial Grade School, Farrell, and was a 1950 graduate of Sharon High School.
She began her career working at the former Book's Shoe Store, Farrell. Joanne retired from the former Bell Telephone Company, Sharon, working more than 40 years as an operator/repair service technician.
Joanne was a member of St. Bartholomew Church, Sharpsville.
A devoted wife and mother, she enjoyed reading, gardening, and cooking. She also liked to feed and watch the birds in her yard and express her artistic talents by drawing and painting.
Her husband, Joseph V. Daverio, whom she married on September 5, 1957, passed away on October 8, 1998.
She is survived by two sons, Joseph D. Daverio and his wife Karen, Sharon, PA, and Dr. David V. Daverio and his wife Stephanie, Williamsport, PA; two grandchildren, Zola Daverio and Leo Daverio and his wife Morgan; and one great-grandchild on the way. Also surviving is a sister, Delores Cugino, Columbus, OH.
In addition to her parents and husband, Joanne was preceded in death by four sisters, Betty Glennan, Martha Yankus, Irene Williams and Madge Bicek.
Calling hours will be 10 a.m. until noon Thursday (08/15/2024) in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 1090 East State St., Sharon.
Funeral service will be at noon, Thursday, in the funeral home, with Rev. Glenn Whitman, officiating.
Interment: St. Ann's Cemetery, Hermitage.
