Obituary

Joanne (Mack/Campbell) Allen, of Allison Park, PA, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 2, 2024, at UPMC McCandless Hospital.

Joanne was born in Farrell, PA, to Stanley and Teofilia Michniewicz and attended Farrell High School. She married John W. Campbell, Jr., Esq., and they eventually settled in Allison Park to be near his law practice. Later in life, after John passed away, she married Dr. John "Jack" Allen from Dubois, PA. They remained in Allison Park, but enjoyed spending time at Jack's house near Treasure Lake.

Joanne was a beautiful and fashionable woman. She loved wearing stunning clothes and unique hats. She was a woman before her time with her sense of style. During her marriage to John Campbell, they traveled the world. They were thrilled to be invited to the White House for President Lyndon B. Johnson's daughter's wedding. Joanne took great pride in decorating her lovely home with ornate and one-of-a-kind furniture, artwork, and accessories. She was a fabulous cook and lavishly entertained her husband's clients in their home. Joanne was an avid reader and book collector, especially cookbooks and art-related books. Later in life, she worked for Meals on Wheels, where many clients were blessed by her delicious cuisine. In addition, she was a nanny for several families in the Pittsburgh area, who wrote glowing words about her child-caring abilities.

More than anything, Joanne was a wonderful aunt to her many nieces and nephews. She loved having them visit, especially in the summer months when they could stay for extended periods of time. Aunt Joanne was a firm believer in teaching etiquette. When you left her home, you were well-schooled in how to dress properly, how to set a table, which utensils to use, and how to mind your manners. She was a second mother to her nieces and nephews and received many Mother's Day cards from them over the years.

Joanne loved animals as well. She was a beloved dog mother to JR and Candy, who were treated like a king and queen.

Surviving are Joanne's husband, Dr. John Allen, her sister-in-law, Edna Mack, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Stanley and Teofilia Michniewicz; her first husband, John W. Campbell, Jr.; sisters, Anna Michniewicz, Sophia (Mona) Vukovich, and Helen Achenbach; brothers, Joseph Michniewicz, Anthony Mack, Stanley Mack, Victor Mack, and William Mack; and nephews, Anthony Mack, Alan Mack, and Ronald Achenbach.

Friends and family will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 1090 E. State St., Sharon. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.McGonigleFuneralHomeandCrematory.com.
