Joanna Malencia

Joanna Malencia, of Florida, previously a longtime resident of South Pymatuning Twp., passed away peacefully Tuesday evening, July 14, 2026, in Vitas Inpatient Hospice, Ft. Myers, FL.

Mrs. Malencia was born July 2, 1940, in Sewickley, PA, a daughter of Walter Albert and Anna (Osiol) Pelczar.

She was a 1958 graduate of Donora High School, later earning her Registered Nurse Certification in 1961 after graduating from Mercy Hospital School of Nursing, Pittsburgh, PA.

For 25 years, Joanna worked as a registered nurse at the former Greenville Hospital, retiring in 1999.

Joanna was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Church, Farrell, and earlier in her life, volunteered as a diabetic nutrition instructor to aid those impacted by the disease.

In her spare time, she enjoyed quilting and sewing.

Her late husband, George Robert Malencia, whom she married on September 22, 1962, preceded her in death on November 22, 2014.

Joanna is survived by her daughter, Kimberly Jo Rossi (Anthony), of Florida; two sons, Kenneth G. Malencia (Tamie), of Butler, PA, and Kevin Malencia (Laura), of Waterford, PA; and six grandchildren, Kristie Ann and Lindsey Ranae Herr, Austin James and Sean Michael (fiancée, Kendra) Malencia, and Katelynn Marie and Justen Aaron Horvath.

In addition to her husband and parents, Joanna was preceded in death by her triplet infant children and a five-day-old son, Shawn Albert.
