JoAnn Powell Rust of Hermitage passed away at 2:46 a.m. Tuesday, February 7, 2017, in Countryside Convalescent Home, Mercer. She was 80.

Mrs. Rust was born April 12, 1936, in West Middlesex, a daughter of Howard B. and Florence E. Holby Powell. A lifelong area resident she was a 1954 graduate of West Middlesex High School.

She most recently worked in the cafeteria at Shop 'N Save, Hermitage.

A homemaker, JoAnn was a member of First Assembly of God, Hermitage.

JoAnn loved cars, particularly antique and classic, and was a member of the Shenango Valley Corvette Club; the Antique Car Club; and the Good Guys Car Club, Columbus, OH. She was also a member of the Patagonia Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed riding snow mobiles and motorcycles. Above all, she loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchild.

Surviving is, her husband, Wayne Rust Sr., whom she married August 8, 1954; two sons, Wayne Rust Jr. and his wife Vicky, Sharpsville; and Richard Rust, Brookfield, OH; a sister, Betty Powell, West Middlesex; two brothers, Howard Powell Jr., West Middlesex; and Raymond Powell, NJ; a son-in-law, Tracy Austin, Sharon; 11 grandchildren, Jenna Dunlap, who was raised by JoAnn from a young age, and her husband Jeremy, Hermitage; Jessica and Jacob Rust, Sharpsville; Edwin Luchey Jr., Sharon; Dustin, Jason, and Maceo Austin, Sharon; Sara Austin, FL; Savannah Klamer, Hermitage; Natasha Rust, OH; and Raquel Rust, Alliance, OH; and two great grandchildren, Jermaine and Jeniyah Dunlap, Hermitage.

In addition to her parents, JoAnn was preceded in death by, a daughter, Susan Austin; a granddaughter, Charlotte Austin; a sister, Shirley Cupic; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.



Memorial service will be 1:00 p.m. Sunday, February 12, 2017, in the First Assembly of God, 1455 N. Keel Ridge Rd. Hermitage, with Rev. Kenneth Martin, officiating.
