Obituary

JoAnn B. Leckfor of Brookfield, formerly of Wheatland, was called home to Our Lord on Thursday, April 23, 2015, in Cleveland Clinic following a brief illness. She was 76. JoAnn was born July 7, 1938, in Sharon, a daughter of John and Helen Podlucky Bohach. A lifelong area resident and Wheatland native, she graduated from Farrell High School in 1956. She retired in 1991 from Packard Electric Corp., Warren, Ohio, where she worked as an assembler and quality inspector for 31 years. As a member of the union and in retirement, she was an activist for workers' rights. A lifelong Catholic, she attended St. Patrick's Church, Hubbard, and St. Thomas the Apostle, formerly St. Bernadette's, Masury. JoAnn volunteered with Sharon Regional Health System ladies auxiliary for 20 years. She enjoyed crocheting, crafts, and bingo. She loved cooking for family and will be remembered for her signature dishes of bologna stew and hunky meatballs. She was committed to helping others and will also be remembered for her random acts of kindness and her philanthropy. A loving mother and grandmother, she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She is survived by: two sons, Ronald J. Leckfor and his wife Tina Louise, and Roger J. Leckfor and his wife Sandra, all Hubbard; three sisters, Louise E. Dunder, Sharpsville; Veronica J. Banjak and her husband Ronald J., Hubbard; and Theresa B. Kettering, Sharpsville; a brother, Paul Bohach and his wife Beverly, Port Charlotte, Fla.; and two grandchildren, Christina and Michael Leckfor. She is also survived by two nieces, Elaine Kettering and Janine Kettering Frey, whom she referred to as the daughters she never had, and many beloved nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by: four sisters, Rosemarie Moder, Valeria David, Anna Sirochman and Catherine Bohach; a brother, John R. Bohach III; and her former husband of 40 years, Ronald F. Leckfor. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105; the Cleveland Clinic Foundation, Giving@ccf.org; or the Humane Society of Mercer County, Box 1046, Hermitage, PA 16148.
