Jesse J. Exposito, 90, a lifelong resident of Edinburg, passed away peacefully at noon Saturday, April 14, 2018, in Sharon Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Exposito was born May 25, 1927, in Edinburg, a son of Charles and Jessie (Myers) Exposito.
A proud veteran, Jesse served in the U.S. Army during WWII and later served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War.
He retired in 1986 from Sharon Steel Corp.'s former Farrell plant, where he worked as a crane operator for 39 years.
He was a member of the VFW Post 638, Bessemer, PA, and the United Steel Workers of America, Local 1197.
His pride and joy was his home in Edinburg, which he had built from the ground up. Jesse was a "Jack-of-All-Trades" with a talent for repairing or building just about anything. He never hesitated at an opportunity to lend a hand to a neighbor, friend, or his family.
His wife, the former Norene E. Coates, whom he married June 2, 1949, preceded him in death January 7, 2016.
Surviving are: three daughters, Thelma (Jody) Patrick, of Columbus, OH, Marilyn Lamm of Cincinnati, OH, and Peggy Szewczyk, of Cary, N.C.; two sisters, Mary (James) Logan, of New Castle, and Anna M. (Don) Rand, of Belleaire, FL; seven grandchildren, Mark, Daniel, and Hilary Patrick; Fred and Lisa Lamm; and Jessica Richardson and Kristen Szewczyk; 8 great grandchildren, Andrew and Kaitlyn Patrick; Evan, Reid and Alex Patrick; and Jordan, Ian and Kennedy Lamm; and two nephews, Rodys (Helen) Exposito, of New Castle and Jeffery Hardesty, of Edinburg.
Besides his parents and wife, Jesse was preceded in death by six brothers; Charles, Joseph, Edward, Francis, Oliver and William Exposito and a sister, Mona Rae "Dolly" Stambul.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Life Lawrence County – Lutheran SeniorLife, 2911 W State St, New Castle, PA 16101.
Calling hours will be 4 to 6 p.m. today (4-16-18) in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 111 W. Falls St., New Castle.
Funeral service will be 6 p.m. today, in the funeral home, with Rev. B.J. Rudge, officiating.
The New Castle Area Honor Guard will conduct full military honors prior to the service.
Interment will take place in Castle View Memorial Gardens, New Castle.
