Jerry Joseph Missory of Mansfield, OH passed away peacefully early
Sunday
morning, December 18, 2016, in his residence surrounded by family and friends. He was 84.
Jerry was a loving husband, father, son, brother and uncle. Faith, family and his Italian heritage were very dear to him. Mr. Missory was born April 30, 1932, in Farrell, PA, a son of Pasquale and Maggie (Caputo) Missory who emigrated from Italy to Sharon, Pennsylvania. Jerry was a 1950 graduate of Farrell High School and a 1955 alumnus of Youngstown State University where he earned a Bachelor's Degree in accounting. He married his high school sweetheart, the former Diana Rozzi, on November 26, 1955.
Jerry proudly served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Frankfort, Germany, in 1956 where he lived with his new bride. After traveling through Europe with his family, Jerry began a 30 year career with Sprint which brought him and family to Mansfield.
Following his retirement in 1990, Jerry enjoyed monthly luncheons with former colleagues.
An adventurous spirit, Jerry, with his wife Diana by his side, traveled across the United States, Mexico, Canada and Hawaii. Together they made frequent visits to the Shenango Valley for family events and to play bocce ball at the Italian Home. Amish Country had a special place in his heart. In his younger years, Jerry hunted at the family cabin in the Allegany Mountains with his brothers and cousins. For the past twenty years, Jerry and Diana wintered in Florida where he and Diana continued to travel around the state of Florida and to Branson, Missouri. Jerry was a devout member of Resurrection Parish, Lexington, Ohio, the VFW AMVETS and the Pioneer Club, both Mansfield, OH.
He will be sadly missed by his loving wife of sixty-one years, Diana (Rozzi) Missory, Mansfield, OH; two children, David Missory of Raleigh, NC; and
Jeri Lane and her husband Larry, Westerville, OH; and two grandchildren, Lawren and Lakota Lane, Westerville, OH. Also surviving are a sister, Olympia Brandt, Hermitage, PA; and special nieces, especially Jean Mabie and Pamela Patterson; and several nephews and friends.
Besides his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by five siblings: Mary Toriello (Carmen); Albert Missory (Helen); Anthony Missory (Betty); Janette Dogan; and Lawrence Missory (Elaine).
