Jerry E. Grimm, 72, of Sharon, passed away following a short term illness on Wednesday, August 29, 2018, in St. Elizabeth Hospital, Youngstown, Ohio.

Mr. Grimm was born March 12, 1946, in Sharon, a son of the late Ralph and Twila (Yarian) Grimm. He was a 1964 graduate of Sharon High School. Jerry enlisted in the US Navy during the Vietnam War, serving from 1964 to 1968 as an engineman aboard a submarine.

Following his honorable discharge, Jerry continued his employment at the family business, Grimm Incorporated, where he began working as a teenager. He and his daughter eventually became owners and operators of the family business until its closing and he retired in 2015.

Jerry was a member of the Oakland Avenue United Methodist Church, Sharon. He was also a member and served two terms as the master and school of instructions leader of the Free and Accepted Masons, Kedron Lodge #389, West Middlesex; and was a longtime member of the Buhl Community Recreation Center, where he made many lifelong friends.

Jerry's favorite past time was hunting and fishing with his daughters and best buddy, Brayden.

He is survived by his wife, the former Nancy Glancy, whom he married October 26, 1968; two daughters, Shelly McCown and her husband Ken, New Wilmington; and Kim Hughes, Sharon; two grandchildren, Nikki and Brayden McCown; one sister, Kathy Zachar and her husband Dave, Masury, OH; and a brother, Thomas Grimm and his wife Nancy, Las Vegas, NV.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Buhl Community Recreation Center, 28 Pine St., Sharon, PA 16146.

Calling hours will be 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday (09/01/2018) in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 1090 East State St., Sharon.

Masonic service will be 1 p.m. Saturday (9-1-18) at the funeral home, conducted by Kedron Lodge 389.
