Jeremy Stephen Harkulich, formerly of Hermitage, passed away of natural causes at 5:17 a.m. Saturday, September 16, 2017, in Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center, Charlotte, N.C. He was 30.

Jeremy was born June 30, 1987, in Greenville, a son of Stephen and Sue (Scanlon) Harkulich. He attended Hickory schools his entire life, where he was involved in many sports, particularly baseball and basketball. Following his graduation from Hickory High School in 2006, Jeremy relocated to North Carolina be closer to his sisters.

Jeremy took interest in the culinary arts and worked as a cook for several restaurants before transitioning to the managerial aspect of the industry. Most recently, he was employed by the Charlotte Mecklenburg School District, Charlotte, N.C., as part of the maintenance department.

He was a former member of the Church of Notre Dame, Hermitage.

His passions in life were music and comedy.

To know Jeremy was to love him. He will be remembered for his kind heart and charming personality, always leaving friends and family with smiles on their face.

Surviving are: his mother, Sue Harkulich, Charlotte, N.C.; two sisters, Leah (Eric) Davis, Wilmington, N.C.; and Lauren (Daniel) Wilson, Canton, MI; paternal grandfather, John Harkulich, Hermitage; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Jeremy was preceded in death by his father, Stephen Harkulich; paternal grandmother, Elsie Harkulich; and maternal grandparents, William and Nora Scanlon.

Calling hours will be 4 p.m. until the time of service Friday (9-22-17) in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 1090 E. State St., Sharon.

Funeral service will be 6 p.m. Friday, in the funeral home, with the Very Rev. Richard J. Allen, pastor of the Church of Notre Dame, Hermitage, officiating.

Interment: St. Ann Cemetery, Hermitage.
