Jeneve B. "Sugar" Wolfers

Jeneve B. "Sugar" Wolfers, 87, of New Castle passed away the evening of Nov. 14, 2015, in UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh.

Sugar was born in New Castle on Nov. 29, 1927, to the late Christopher M. and Katherine Reynolds Burns. She was a graduate of New Castle High School.

Sugar was employed as a secretary for former Magisterial District Judge Ruth French and retired as such from the office of District Magistrate David B. Rishel.

Sugar was a devout member of St. Mary Church, where she enjoyed volunteering her time. She was an avid Republican and had worked for some time at her local voting poll on election days. She was also a member of Challenges Center at Shenley Square.

Sugar is survived by several nieces and nephews. She is the last surviving sibling in her family of four sisters and three brothers.

Preceding her in death besides her parents are her four sisters, Mary B. Flaherty, Kathryn Kominic, Eleanor C. Burns and Marguerite Burns along with her three brothers, Joseph R. Burns, Thomas C. Burns and John F. Burns.

There will be no calling hours.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 11 a.m. in St. Mary Church with the Rev. William P. Siple as the celebrant.

Interment will be in St. Mary Cemetery. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, 111 W. Falls St.
