Jeffrey W. Herndon, 63, of Hermitage, passed away with his wife by his side on Saturday evening, July 25, 2026, in his home.
Mr. Herndon was born August 3, 1962, in Pittsburgh, PA, a son of the late Sue Ellen (Rittenhouse) Herndon and William Lee Herndon. He was a 1981 graduate of Northgate High School in the Bellevue neighborhood of Pittsburgh, PA.
A talented chef, Jeff began his career working for Ponderosa, and later Maggie Mae’s, before achieving his lifelong dream of opening his own restaurant, Coach’s Bar and Grille in Jackson Center, PA.
Jeff was a member of St. Joseph Church, Sharon.
A sports enthusiast, he loved following the Pittsburgh sports teams and took a very active role in his children’s youth sports, coaching many of their teams throughout the years. Jeff shared his love of cooking with all of his children, a talent they continue to cultivate in their daily lives.
His high school sweetheart and wife of nearly 40 years, Susan (Tokarski) Herndon, whom he began dating in 1980 and married on October 25, 1986, survives at home.
Jeff is also survived by three sons, Benjamin Lee Herndon (Felicia), of Hermitage, Brandon Andrew Herndon (Jodie), of Winter Garden, FL, and Jordan Beau Herndon (Jessica), of Sharpsville, PA; a daughter, Gabrielle Elizabeth Maak (Dustin), of Kinsman, OH; nine grandchildren, Jace and Cody Herndon, Joanna, Liam, and Autumn Herndon, Elizabeth, John, and Brooke Muller, and John Henry Maak.
In addition to his parents, Jeff was preceded in death by his brother, Gary Lee Herndon.

Family and friends will be received from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday (8-3-26) in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 1090 E. State St., Sharon.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 9:30 a.m. Tuesday (8-4-26) in St. Joseph Church, 79 Case Ave., Sharon, with Rev. James Power, as celebrant.
