Jeffrey Steven Lucas of 444 Moore St. Hubbard, OH, passed away on Friday, May 21, 2010 at 5:55 p.m. in the Hospice House, Poland, OH after a long battle with cancer. He was 56.
Mr. Lucas was born in Sharon, PA on June 30, 1953, a son of the late Steven J. and Katherine E. Bastecky Lucas.
He was a 1971 graduate of Farrell High School. Following high school Jeff completed a 4 year apprenticeship as a Tool Die Journeyman at Delphi ? Packard. Jeff retired after 37 years from Delphi ? Packard. In his spare time he helped his father-in-law, Joseph Chiodo at Lucas Construction, with various contracting jobs.
Jeff enjoyed hunting, fishing, and playing minesweeper and solitaire on his computer. He also loved riding his 100 year anniversary Harley, which he won on his 50th birthday.
He is survived by, his wife, Sally Chiodo Lucas, whom he married, June 11, 1977; a daughter, Jennifer and her husband Steven Hockstra of Rootstown, OH; 2 sons, Steven and Joshua Lucas, both reside at home; 3 sisters, Dianne S. and her husband Michael Jennings of Titusville, FL, Stephanie Lucas of Sharpsville, and Cathy L. Habel of Fredonia; a brother, David A. and his wife Margaret Lucas of Hermitage; a granddaughter, Lillian Grace Hockstra.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Calling Hours will be on Tuesday, May 25, 2010 from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. in the J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. 1090 E. State St. Sharon. There will also be calling hours on Wednesday, May 26, 2010 from 10 to 11 a.m. in the church.
A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, May 26, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. in the First Assembly of God Church, 1455 N. Keel Ridge Rd. Hermitage.
Following the service cremation will take place in the funeral home crematory.
