Obituary

Jeannie Bethune, 79, of 201 Charlotte Lane, died the morning of November 11, 2010 at UPMC, Presbyterian in Pittsburgh, with her family by her side.

She was born August 26, 1931, in Pittsburgh. She was the daughter of the late Jerry and Eleanor Smith Hockett.

She was a 1949 graduate of Swissvale High School.

Jeannie was married to Clifton B. Bethune on January 4, 1951.

In 1968 she moved to New Castle from Swissvale with her family.

She was formerly employed at Reliable Luggage, West Penn Plastics and Ciazza Candies. She was a former Poll worker when she lived in Pittsburgh.

She enjoyed bowling. Jeannie was a former member of Calvary AME Church in Braddock, PA and St. Luke AME Zion Church and currently attends Prevailing Word World Outreach Center.

She is survived by her Husband, Clifton, at home, One son, Clifton B. Bethune IV (Cheryl) of New Castle, four Daughters, Leslie Wright, of Pittsburgh, Tonia Ross, of New York, Tammy Keys (Michael), of Virginia Beach, VA, and Tracy Bethune of New Castle. Also surviving is a sister, Barbara Wynn of Pittsburgh, nine grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Hockett and a granddaughter Shawnte' Ross.

Calling hours will be held from 4 to 7 on Wednesday at the J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, 111 W. Falls St. and from 10 to 11 a.m. on Thursday at the Prevailing Word World Outreach Center, 114 Oakland Ave.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. at the Center, conducted by Apostle David M. Young, Pastor.

Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery.
