Jean E. "Jennie" Katakowski of Sharon passed away peacefully at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, August 26, 2017, in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System. She was 91.

Ms. Katakowski was born July 21, 1926, in Farrell, a daughter of Alexander and Anna Katakowski. She was a 1944 alumna of Farrell High School and a 1947 graduate of St. Elizabeth Hospital School of Nursing, Youngstown, OH. Jennie remained at St. Elizabeth's where she worked as a pediatric nurse for 29 years.

She was a lifelong active member of St. Stanislaus Kostka Catholic Church, Sharon, where she served as a lecturer.

Surviving are three generations of nieces and nephews, most of whom originated in Michigan, and many others whom originated in the Shenango Valley.

Besides her parents, Jennie was preceded in death by two sisters, Sophie A. Katakowski and Helen Betchie; four brothers, Frank, Joseph, Adam and Walter Katakowski; and two nephews, Joseph "Butch" Katakowski and Robert Katakowski.

Calling hours will be 7 to 9 p.m. Friday (9-1-2017) in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 1090 E. State St., Sharon.

A private Funeral Mass of Christian burial will be held in St. Stanislaus Kostka Catholic Church, Sharon.

Interment: Holy Cross Cemetery, Hermitage.
