Jean Marie Leavens Christello, Palmetto, Fla., formerly of the Shenango Valley and Brookfield, passed away of natural causes at 10:15 a.m. Tuesday (6-2-15) in the Greenbrier Nursing Center, Eaton, Ohio. She was 87. She was born in Farrell on Jan. 17, 1928, one of eight children born to Vincent and Mary Miksza Leavens. She was raised in Farrell and graduated from St. Adalbert's elementary school and attended Farrell High School. Jean enjoyed a good round of golf and belonged to both the Yankee Run and Hickory VFW ladies leagues. Jean was a homemaker and great cook. She also enjoyed playing bingo, singing and playing the organ. She was of the Catholic faith. Her husband, Patrick J. Christello, whom she married in St. Adalbert's Church on Aug. 2, 1947, passed away on Dec. 29, 2007. She is survived by a son, Kenneth Christello and his wife Jennifer and their children, Lindsey Brewster and her husband Patrick and Tyler Christello and his wife Jenna, all Eaton; a brother, John Leavens and his wife Sarah, Masury; two sisters, Anna Tarkanick and her husband Joseph, Brookfield; and Frances Giroski, Sharon. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Patricia Christello; four brothers, Anthony, Joseph, Michael and William Leavens. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Sharon Regional Home Hospice and Palliative Care, 2320 Highland Road, Hermitage, PA 16148. Calling hours: In keeping with her wishes there will be no calling hours and cremation was held. Service: Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in her memory at 11 a.m. Saturday (6- 13-15) in St. Joseph's Church, 79 Case Ave., Sharon, with the Rev. Thomas Whitman, pastor, as celebrant.
