Obituary

A private funeral service will be held on Saturday for Jason Edward Manwell, Countryside Convalescent Home, Mercer, and formerly of Boyd Drive in Hermitage, who passed away in the home of natural causes on Sunday (5-2-10) at 10:28 p.m. He was 94.

Mr. Manwell was born on June 21, 1915 in Kent, Ohio the son of Menso J. and Kitty Kingsberry Manwell.

He was employed for 35 years at the former Sharon Transformer division of the Westinghouse Electric Corporation where he worked as an electrical tester, he retired in 1976.

A Free and Accepted Mason, he was a member of the former Masonic Lodge #668, Sharon, and is currently a member of the Shenango Valley Lodge #810, Hermitage.

Mr. Manwell was a veteran of WWII having served in the European African Middle Eastern Theater in battles at Normandy, Northern France, and the Rhineland. He was honorably discharged on November 20, 1945 with the Good Conduct Medal, the Combat Infantry Badge, and the WWII Victory Medal with four Bronze Stars. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1338, Sharon.

His wife the former Helen Hall whom he married on November 11, 1942, passed away on April 15, 1992.

He is survived by his six nieces, Paula Priester and her husband John R., West Middlesex, Gwen Locke, Stuart, FL; Carol Reher and her husband Rick, Medford, OR; Jane Schumacker and her husband Leo, Boulder, CO; Betty Hollis, Pontiac, MI; and Katie St. John, Union City, PA; one nephew, Ronald R. Lindsay and his wife Linda, Cuyahoga Falls, OH.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his infant son, a brother James Manwell, and his three sisters, Annetta Gahagan, Margaret Lindsay, and Mary Manwell.

Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to Family Hospice and Palliative Care 1965 Shenango Valley Freeway Suite #2 Hermitage Pa. 16148.
